Udupi, May 16: It was a spectacle at 'Darpan', where viewers were enthralled by music and dance performances organized by Prashanth N Group dance academy, popularly known as the ‘PnG’ troupe from Kadiyali. The performances were held at MJC Ground, Manipal on Sunday, May 14.
State minister for fisheries, youth empowerment and sports and district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
In his address, minister Pramod appreciated the dance academy and said, "Prashanth has become a brand ambassador for dancing in Udupi through his unique style. He is a person who motivates and builds confidence among children with this dance. I wish all the best to 'PnG' dance troupe.”
The much awaited Tulu song ‘Popunda Popunda’ from the upcoming movie 'Pettkammi', was released on occasion, and students of Prashanth N Group Dance Academy danced to it. The producer of the film 'Pettkammi', Ashok Shetty, director Keerthi, and emerging Tulu film actor and popular VJ, Roopesh Shetty, witnessed the launch of the song.
The colourfully dressed children performed a contemporary dance. The audience enjoyed every moment of the show and encouraged the dancers with huge rounds of applause.
The ‘PnG’ dancers gave excellent performances in an array of styles including the Desi Folk, Yakshagana, and Tiger Dance. Prashanth Kadiyali’s team also presented a freestyle dance form.
The ‘PnG’ Group came into being twenty years ago, and has been presenting Darpan since 2010. It is recognized as a vibrant dance crew and one of the leading troupes in Karnataka.
Sahil Zaheer held the attention of audience throughout the show by his attractive compering style. Nagraj compered the inaugural part of the programme.
Raghupati Bhat, former MLA of Udupi, Yashpal Suvarna, president of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada District Fish Market Federation, Renu Jayaram, CEO of Jaydev Motors, Indrali Jayakar Shetty from Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society Ltd Udupi, Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje, president of Udupi Municipality Council, Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, managing director, Kidiyoor Hotels Private Ltd were present on occasion.
