Mangaluru Jun 3: With 25 saplings in each ward, Mangaluru City Corporation is all set to plant 1,500 saplings in all the 60 wards within MCC limits, to mark World Environment Day on June 5, informed Mayor Kavitha Sanil.

Addressing media here on Friday June 2, she explained, "A workshop on cleaniness and health will follow at Town Hall for all permanent labourers, sub-contract labourers and daily wage labourers of MCC. Health cards will be distributed to civic workers as well."

She also said,"People need to bifurcate dry waste and wet waste and handover to Anthony waste management. On that day we will take an oath on bifurcating dry waste and wet waste. Vehicles will collect both the categories of waste everyday. We need to take some precautionary measures in the monsoons as due to waterlogging there will be chances of mosquitoes breeding and spread of disease. Hotels and residents should close the lids of their overhead tanks and at the same time hotels should provide hot water to their customers."
