Moodbidri, Jun 5: A theft was reported at the residential quarters of the health department near the office of the tahsildar here on the night of Sunday June 4.

The house in question is currently occupied by Shalini, a staff nurse of the health department, and her husband, Sudhakar, who works for a jewellery store here.

Shalini had left for Hassan on Sunday to undergo a training programme there. Sudhakar went to Bajagoli near Karkala on Sunday evening to attend religious programme in the house of his brother. On his return home on Monday morning, Sudhakar found that the lock of the front door was broken and several things were stolen from his home. The things stolen included a television set, stabilizer, gas cylinder and stove.

After Sudhakar complained, police from the town station conducted a spot inspection.

An aquarium had been stolen from this house some days back. A failed theft attempt was also made at the residential quarters of the medical officer nearby about 20 days back.
