Mangaluru: Tragedy near Mulky - man drowns in Shambhavi river

Mangaluru, Jun 7: A youth picking cockle shells from Shambhavi River at Chitrap within Mulky town panchayat limits on Tuesday June 6 lost his life.

The victim of the incident, Sathish Poojary (35), was residing at Sagu, Chitrap. Poojary was employed at a factory functioning in Kolnad industrial area, Mulky. On Tuesday morning, Sathish went into the river near the estuary to pick cockle shells and drowned.

Sathish lived with his mother. As he did not come home on time his mother grew concerned and shared the concern with a few locals. President of Mulky Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union, Ashok Kumar Chitrap and others searched for him. They found Poojary's body lying on the banks of the river at Kuluvail, Haleangady.
