Tumakuru, Jun 9: It has come to light that a teacher of a government primary school in Koratagere taluk of the district had been urging his young students to watch nude photographs and video containing sexual visuals on his cellphone.

Angry parents of the students held protest in front of the said school on Thursday June 8, seeking immediate action against Devaraju,  teacher of government primary school, Lankenahalli in Koratagere taluk.  The block education officer has sent recommendation for his suspension from service. The police are hunting for the teacher, who has absconded.

Devaraju had come on transfer to this school a year back. He used to harass the girl students of his school by showing to them nude photographs and obscene videos on his phone. The students, who initially remained quiet on account of their respect for teachers, told their parents after his harassment crossed all limits.

The girl students allege that Devaraju was in the habit of giving more attention to girl students when teaching and of behaving too liberally with them.  They say that many a time their teacher compelled them to watch nude photos and videos showing sexual indulgence from his cellphone. Girls who refused faced unsubstantiated allegations followed by corporal punishment and threats of allotting less marks in examination.
