Bengaluru, Jun 11: The Jayalakshmipuram police here filed a first information report (FIR) against six state government employees for submitting fake marks cards to obtain promotion.

The suspects are Sharanappa and Satish of Gangavathi in Koppal district, Ramesh G Reddy of Chikkodi, Kashi M Vali of Sandur in Ballari district, Shivayogappa and Mallanna of Shahapur in Yadagiri district.

The health and family welfare department had received fake certificates of the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) from officials working as food safety officers in different districts.

The police filed an FIR after the KSOU authorities lodged a complaint.

According to sources, as many as nine people had submitted their degree certificates to the health and family department seeking promotion. During the verification of the certificates by the KSOU, it was found out that six of the certificates were fake.
