Beltangady, Jun 12: A final year commerce degree student of a private college at Ujire hanged himself inside Devaraj Urs backward classes hostel located near the junior college in the town on Sunday June 11.

Sandesh belonged to Talapady. He used to attend his college at Ujire every day from the hostel here where he stayed. On Sunday afternoon, when no one was around, he made a noose out of clothes and rope and hanged himself from the window rod in his room. No reasons could be attributed to his decision to take away his life immediately.

Chairman of Karnataka State Small Scale Industries Development Corporation and MLA, K Vasant Bangera, visited the spot and instilled courage among the student staying in the hostel by talking to them and advising them not to lose heart. College principal and teaching staff also visited the spot.

A case about the incident was registered at the town police station here and investigation has begun.
