Sullia: Woman meets watery grave in water tank near her home

Sullia, Jun 16: A woman who had gone near the water tank next to her home to check water level  accidentally slipped and fell into the tank. As there were no one nearby to rescue her, the woman drowned and lost her life. The incident happened at Ballaka in Guthigar village in the taluk on Thursday June 15.

The victim in this incident was Yamunavathi (44). As was her routine, Yamunavathi had switched the pump fitted to a borewell on to fill the water tank on Thursday morning. After sometime, she went up the steps to reach the top of the water tank and was peeping to check water level when she slipped and fell into the tank.

Yamunavathi was the wife of ex serviceman, Chennappa Gowda, ,who is currently employed at Corporation bank, Subrahmanya. She is survived by husband, a son, and a daughter.

Station house officer of the police station here as well as assistant sub-inspector of Subrahmanya station, Chandappa, conducted spot inspection and inquest. A complaint about the incident was registered in Subrahmanya polcie station.
