Mangaluru, Jul 5: K K Venugopal, who took over as new attorney general of India at the Supreme Court on Monday July 3 happens to be a former student of St Aloysius College here, it transpires.


Venugopal, son of M K Nambiar, an acclaimed constitutional expert, is a native of Kannur. After pursuing education at St Aloysius College here,he had obtained his degree in law from R L Law College, Belagavi. During his career spanning 50 years, Venugopal has discharged duties in a number of constitutional positions including that of amicus curiae of Supreme Court for difficult cases.
College registrar, Dr A M Narahari, stated that Venugopal was conferred with the 'Eminent Aloysian Award' given by St Aloysius College in the year 2011.
