Trump's FBI pick to testify before Senate

Washington, July 10 (IANS): Donald Trump's choice to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will appear before a Senate panel this week, two months after the President abruptly fired James Comey from the post, the media reported on Monday.

Christopher Wray will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning, which will likely set Trump's choice up to be confirmed by the full Senate before Congress leaves Washington for the August recess, reports The Hill magazine.

Trump announced Wray as his choice to lead the FBI on the day before Comey's testimony before the Senate on June 8.

If confirmed, Wray will not preside over the Russia probe -- the federal investigation is currently led by Robert Mueller, a former FBI director chosen by the Justice Department to serve as special counsel.
