Mangaluru: Stone pelting during Sharath’s funeral- Leaders get interim anticipatory bail

Mangaluru, Aug 6: Relating to the stone pelting incidents that happened during RSS activist Sharath Madiwala’s funeral last month, 5 leaders have secured another interim anticipatory bail on Saturday, August 5.

Bajrang Dal convenor Sharan Pumpwell, state Gau Raksha Pramukh Muralikrishna Hasanthadka, district co-convenor Pradeep Pumpwell, BJP backward morcha state secretary Satyajith Suratkal, BJP Yuva Morcha district leader Harish Poonja are the 5 leaders who secured the interim anticipatory bail. They had secured another anticipatory bail on July 26.

In the first anticipatory bail granted, the court had imposed some conditions. They were- leaders should not move around in the area under Bantwal town police, should visit the Bantwal town police station to sign the register twice in a week and two people each from the family of each person should provide surety.

In addition to the charges of instigating stone pelting during the funeral procession, these leaders also faced the charges of obstructing police personnel on duty.

Advocates K Shambu Sharma and Ajay had argued on behalf of these leaders.

All these leaders faced arrest after the charges were leveled against them after the funeral and all of them were not seen in public after that.
