Udupi, Aug 6: One of the esteemed residential apartments at Ajjarkad in the city, ‘Kirthi Momento’ has completely surrendered subsidized LPG by adopting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Give it up' campaign. ‘Kirthi Momento’ has become the first apartments in the city to do so.

It may be recalled, PM Modi had launched the ‘Give it Up’ campaign for voluntarily giving up LPG subsidy. Through this campaign Modi appealed to well-to-do sections of Indian society to voluntarily give up LPG subsidy, so that the benefit of the same could be shared more widely with the poor sections of the society.

Sudhir Shetty, president of the apartment’s association said, "One of the association members K T Kamath, inspired by the 'Give it up' campaign, presented a proposal on surrender of gas subsidy at the general body meeting of the association. There was no objection from the flat owners. It was immediately executed in all the flats of 'Kirthi Momento'.

"It is nothing but a small contribution from us to the nation building exercise. We were happy to do this service. This is happening for the first time in the city. We hope that, our decision would be a model for other apartments too," added Shetty.

Harish, treasurer of the association said, "We are happy to be a part of Modi's noble work. After the society meeting, the proposal was given to Krishna Gas Agency, where they approved our appeal. Within not much time, it was implemented in our apartment. As many as 47 flats owners have given up LPG subsidy."

A solar panel has been installed at ‘Kirthi Momento’, which is used for saving part of electricity consumption.

This achievement adds another feather in the cap of Kirthi Construction which has been providing quality infrastructure in and around Udupi and Manipal. The well-known builders have set very high standards in construction activity and executed many top end projects for more than a decade here.
