Mangaluru: SCDCC Bank chairman Rajendra Kumar bags FCBA national award

Mangaluru, Aug 8: Chairman of South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank Ltd, Rajendra Kumar, has won the 11th annual 'Frontiers in Cooperative Banking Award - 2017' being given annually by Mumbai-based Banking Frontiers. Kumar has been chosen for the award under the national category, 'best Chairman'.

Kumar is credited with leading SCDCC Bank to grow parrallel to nationalized banks by adopting modern technology in the bank. He has successfully spread banking concept in rural land rural centres alike.

During the time he has been with the bank since 1994, Kumar has transformed the bank into people-friendly institution by adopting creative schemes. After he took over as chairman of the bank, since the last 18 years, SCDCC Bank has been bagging Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank's award for being best district central cooperative bank in the state annually and consecutive awards from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.

When Kumar took over as chairman of the bank, SCDCC Bank had only 25 branches with total turnover of Rs 110 crore, and net profit of the bank stood at Rs 42 lac. At present, the bank has 102 branches, total turnover has touched Rs 5583 crore with net profit of Rs 24.07 crore.

Kumar will receive this prestigious award at the convention of national cooperative banks being held on September 8 at Jaipur, a release from SCDCC Bank stated.
