Udupi, Aug 9: The district Congress committee and Congress Sevadal on Wednesday August 9 organized a programme here to commemorate 75 years of 'Quit India' movement.

The programme began with padayatra from Congress office at Brahmagiri to clock tower via Joduraste.

Addressing the gathering, media advisor to Karnataka chief minister,Dinesh Amin Mattu, who was the main speaker, said that Congress party is purely based on ideology and that is why he decided to partner with it. "Congress follows secular principles and fights against religious bigotism. In Karnataka, mention of caste and religious system evoke fear. As such, we have to drive away forces which instill fear," he stated.

Mattu said that when the concerned are clear about the ideologies they follow, they can survive and grow strong over time. "Nowadays, projecting oneself as patriot is easy as he can resort to deliver addresses, wear caps etc. Real patriots are quite different. They do everything from their heart, and never boast about what they do. We do not find names of Shyam Mukherjee and Savarkar in the list of patriots who fought for our freedom in history books. Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh did not fight for the nation. A B Vajpayee had written an apology letter to the British. There are records to prove that Hindutva protagonists had surrendered to the British. RSS was formed in 1925 and Jan Sangh came into being in 1950. If these people can openly declare that they had fought for the country and participated in freedom movement, I will surrender to them. RSS did not even accept independence till 1950 and hoisted its own flag. Real patriots do not claim themselves to be so. RSS activists who claim to be patriots are masked betrayers and they need to be shunned," he felt.

He said that BJP and Sangh Parivar have no clarity about castes and religions and they coin these words only for political gains. "Religion, belief systems and caste system should be purely individualistic. There are 0.11 percent atheists in the world and having faith in something is purely personal. I accept religion preached by Swami Vivekananda and Narayana Guru, who were genuine patriots but not people like Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Mohan Bhagwat, Amit Shah etc," he stated.

Mattu wanted to ask the BJP as to what is the eligibility criteria to be known as a Hindu and wanted to know whether being born in Hindu family is not enough. He said he has observed people following different ideologies from close quarters and had associated himself with Janardhan Poojaryu, Deve Gowda, Ananth Kumar, Nalin Kumar Kateel etc. He said it would not be fair for him to reveal their individual interests including food. Out of them, he felt, Janardhan Poojary is more Hindu than others.

Dinesh said that Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal etc are following political Hndutva and campaign for BJP. "If we question this aspect, the environment will become hot. We should create awareness among people that god, religion etc are purely personal and that name of god should never be used wrongly. At present, those who speak truth are strangled. I believe that sages were real social reformers who fought against caste system and untouchability. Current religious institutions, BJP and RSS act like communal recruitment agencies using innocent people. Our district comprising conscious people has now been facing an atmosphere of fear.Hindus are asked to hate Muslims. When there are important and serious issues facing the countries that are to be tackled, we harp about Muslim conflict, talaaq, moral policing, communal clashes etc. A soldier need not be guided by patriotism alone when joining the army. He may be lured by monetary benefits also. Election commission, courts etc should interfere when incidents like yesterday in Gujarat happen. Such leaders should be taught a good lesson," he stated.

Mattu said that Sonia and Rahul cannot strengthen Congress on their own, and combined work by grassroot level workers can alone achieve it. He wanted an environment that is free of fear to settle down in the country, adding that constitutional democracy should be our religion otherwise people might lose their country that is dear to their hearts.

District in-charge minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, said that Pt Jawaharlal Nehru was inside prison for 1030 days but he never gave an apology to secure his release from there. He regretted that people are forgetting such sacrifices now, which he felt is actually anti-national.

Sir,Secularism does not mean leaving the religion you belive and be extra modern or being a disbeliever ,Instead when RSS and BJP were using the name of Lord Ram you failed to counter that pre Independence SRI RAM was Symbol of secularism Mahatma and Maulana Azad were together without any clash between them BJP and RSS did use the same Sentences against you but you did fail to counter, They did it after trying every allegation against Congress they were Successful ....And our Boli Janta did fell prey in their hands. And the slogans became more important then Humanity

My only suggestion to Congrees men is Study Ramayan and Mahabhart and Teach innocent youth who are falling prey for this fascism, that Holy books never teach hatred and killings.

And for GOD sake dont tell to be secular you should leave behind your religion A very GOOD HINDU can be a Secular or a MUSLIM or any Faith he follows.

Leaders forget that people are educated or even if not educated they clearly know the history on who fought for independence and so on.

Why these leaders try to tell the people time and again on freedom struggle even after 70 years of independence?

Let them tell what they have done after british quit India:

Whether democracy was practiced in true spirit?
    We still talk about poverty.
We still talk about lack of basic health.
We still talk about lack of basic education.
We still talk about lack of basic infrastructure.
We still talk about "Beti Bachao"
We still talk about corruption more and more.

    Are we fooling ourselves?

All corrupt dongies joined together and continued to rule with British divide and rule policy even after Mahatma Ghandhi advised to dissolve Congress. After 70 years of misrule, we are still a developing country with enormous resources and intellectuals. Congress always wanted to keep people of India in dark so that they can rule the country just by a slogan Garibi Hatao and appeasement politics. British gave Pakistan ( west and east) for Muslims and Hindustan for Hindus. When they made it as a Islamic country nobody ( our pseudosecularist) objected and now they are threatening majority Hindus in India. Are we fools to be get killed by extremists. One of the Indian born Soth African scholar Ahmed Deendar openly said after 50 years Hindus can not say Proudly " I am Hindu"

Today sonia spoke in parliament about quit india movement.
She spoke only about nehru ( maybe because she belongs to that family)
she didnt mention subash chandra bose or patel or anyone else.
This shows her attitude towards other freedom fighters.
    Family first, country much later.

It is sad that people who ABUSED SECULARISM for the past years are teaching others what Secularism is. What led to the rise of VHP. Congress does not allow non Gandhi people any credit and is trying to teach others Democracy. Yes V need a 2 party system in India with Congress as the other pArty but not a congress which is the personal property of the Nehru / Gandhi clan. Then what's wrong in a Lalu, Mulayamh, Amma, Karunandhiis , Mayavatiis becoming Prime Minister of India. Congress should stop preaching and look for leaders outside Sonia / Rahul/ Priyanka . Atleast the RSS allowed party workers with no connections to become a PM, President , VP

The Quit India Movement (QIM) also known as ‘August Kranti’ (August Revolution) was a nation-wide civil disobedience movement for which a call was given on August 7, 1942 by the Bombay session of the All-India Congress Committee. It began on August 8, with Mahatma Gandhi making a call to ‘Do or Die’ in his Quit India speech delivered in Mumbai at the Gowalia Tank Maidan.
While addressing the 24th session of the Hindu Mahasabha at Cawnpore (now Kanpur) in 1942, Savarkar outlined the strategy of the Hindu Mahasabha of co-operating with the British rulers to suppress it.
The Hindu Mahasabha and Muslim League beside Bengal and Sindh ran coalition government in the NWFP also during this period.
Following the Hindu Mahasabha directive to co-operate with the British, Hindutva icon, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee assured the British masters through a letter dated July 26, 1942. Shockingly, it read:

“Let me now refer to the situation that may be created in the province as a result of any widespread movement launched by the Congress. Anybody, who during the war, plans to stir up mass feeling, resulting internal disturbances or insecurity, must be resisted by any Government that may function for the time being”[Mookherjee, Shyama Prasad, Leaves from a Dairy, Oxford University Press. p. 179.]
It would be interesting to note what Golwalkar meant by ‘routine work of Sangh’. It surely meant working overtime to widen the divide between Hindus and Muslims, thus serving the strategic goal of the British rulers and Muslim League. In fact, the contemporary reports of the British intelligence agencies on the QIM were straight forward in describing the fact that the RSS kept aloof from the QIM.
The Hindutva camp not only opposed the Quit India Movement but also provided multi-faceted and multi-dimensional support to the British rulers in suppressing this historic mass upsurge.
RSS which sided British during Quit India is know issuing certificates of 'nationalism'.
    Jai Hind

RSS is the foundation stone of this great nation called "HINDUSTAN" or "INDIA" or "BHARATH", the ideology of RSS has kept all the regions, factions together as a Country or else this Country would have been " United States of different Languages, Castes, Creed, Communities, Religions, Reservations, etc...etc...etc..." country.
We would have been a laughing stock in the entire world if there was no RSS in our nation.
