Citizens of 80 countries including India now don't require visa to enter Qatar

Doha, Aug 9 (Reuters): Citizens of 80 countries including India can now enter Qatar visa-free. The countries include India, the UK, the US, Canada, South Africa, Seychelles, Australia and New Zealand.

"Citizens of these 80 countries wishing to visit Qatar will not need to apply or pay for a visa," Qatari officials announced in a release said.

"A multi-entry waiver will be issued free-of-charge at the port of entry, upon presentation of a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket," the release added.

"Depending on the nationality of the visitor, the waiver will either be valid for 180 days, and allow the visitor to spend a total of 90 days in Qatar (multiple-entry); or it will be valid for 30 days and entitle the visitor to spend up to 30 days in Qatar (multiple-entry) with the possibility of applying for an extension of the waiver for an additional 30 days," it said.

Hassan Al Ibrahim, Acting Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority said: "With 80 nationalities eligible for a free visa waiver upon arrival, Qatar is now the most open country in the region and we are delighted to invite visitors to discover our renowned hospitality, cultural heritage and natural treasures."

In November 2016, Qatar introduced a free transit visa, which allows passengers of all nationalities transiting in Qatar for a minimum of five hours to stay in Qatar for up to 96 hours (four days). In May 2017, QTA and Qatar Airways launched +Qatar, a package which includes a free night's stay in a 5- or 4- star hotel in Doha, alongside a complimentary transit visa.

It is nothing but routine exercise. Country is hosting 2022 world cup Football and they have to show increase in tourist figures. They have to show tourists turnover to 7 Million before game starts. And cannot ruled out the good and developed relationship between our 2 Countries. Pakistan, Srilanka and Philippines not in the list that we should understand the relation India is with Qatar. As some one said, Recent embargo is not the reason and it is not affected much so far.

Please note that it is only a tourist visa. You need a separate visa to work in that county and its not easy to get a well paid job. Most of the high paid jobs are given on contract on low salary. They have laid off thousands of people before this crisis. They have done this to help them self. Their Airlines are flying empty, 30,000 hotel rooms built another 20,000 under construction for FIFA Cup are lying vacant. Hotel Occupancy is only 30 to 35%. Cost of living is very high and you cannot compare them to Dubai. Those who want to visit their relatives and friends it is good thing to happen.

Its a good political step by qatar, to counter saudi and dubai.
Saudi and dubai were probably jealous that qatar will be hosting the football world cup and the country's stature will increase in world view.

I think soon Qatar will be out of GCC , Qatar is small but a very rich country , they have enough resources to keep going even with the trade embargo imposed on them . It seems like they are doing this to irritate Saudi even more .

Furthermore, if there is a direct flight give some buisness to Qatar Airways.
Even gas exploration, productions and export may open ways for Indian Companies on better terms & conditions.

This called the brain work of Qatar's leadership.
A sovereign country and few wanted to suppress Qatar and keep a control over a Sovereign country. The more Saudi & others try to dominate over them, farther they incline towards, Iran, Turkey & Russia. Golden opportunity for few Indian highly skilled people and business people to have permanent residence.

    @ Laks, Karkala
Please do not try to spread your senseless viewpoints in this form. Try to understand the true reasons and political developments which are cracking GCC's unity.
If you want to try just take chance, three months visit visa and you are a highly skilled person try for a job.
Right time to get out of your imaginative world.

Now Bhakts will say , " It is all because of Acheivement of Modi & Sushmaji " .

Same thing said by BJP leaders , when "Hajj Quota " was increased for Indians by Saudi Government this year.

Actual the fact of increasing Hajj Quota done by Saudi Government for all Countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan etc etc.

For 'Qatar " it is because of Gulf Crisis , they want to generate more economy & World Cup is In pipeline for 2022.

So to attract tourism, they entertain this...

Ask daku and feku to make US,UK and Schengen visa visa on arrival for Indians.
For 'Qatar " it is because of Gulf Crisis , they want to generate more economy and even other 33 countries will get 180 days visa where as indians will get only 30 days.

Laks Karkala, come out from Cave of Karkala and increase your knowledge. World is not limited from Karkala to Kinnigoli only. Do not expose your knowledge to the world. Visa free entrance is not only for India. It includes 80 countries including UK, the US, Canada, South Africa, Seychelles, Australia and New Zealand. Does your brain tells you that all these countries got this privilege because of Modi and Sushma ? True blind bhakt. Last week I met one blind bhakt who claims Mangalore is mosquito free after Modi coming to power.

It is indeed a recognition for Indians and under the present government India's relations with Gulf countries have reached a new height. This is one area where all the overseas Indian citizens commend the present government regardless of the political party they support back home. I am sure other Gulf countries too will follow Qatar soon in this respect.
