Bengaluru: I don't want to take credit for Ahmed Patel's victory - D K Shivakumar

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 10: In spite of the fact that there was income tax raid recently on various properties owned by him and his relatives and friends, Karnataka energy minister, D K Shivakumar, has risen in stature within Congress party. Political analysts claim that as compared to Shivakumar's emergence as a trusted lieutenant of Congress command, the image of chief minister, Siddaramaiah, has been adversely hit.

Speaking on Wednesday August 9, Shivakumar said that he has not been expecting to be rewarded with home ministry for being instrumental in carving out victory for Congress candidate in the Rajya Sabha election in Gujarat. "I just want to work efficiently in my department. My desire is to provide uninterrupted power to the people and farmers. During my tenure, I wish that Karnataka will not face power shortage. As far as position in politics is concerned, time alone will decide," he stated.

It is learnt that All India Congress Committee president, Sonia Gandhi, called up Shivakumar and thanked him for being instrumental in the victory of Ahmed Patel in Gujarat election. Party sources said that she profusely appreciated Shivakumar's role in discharging responsibility of hosting Gujarat MLAs and ensuring that they stayed united. "You had to face an ordeal for having extended support to the party leadership. The party leadership will keep in mind your contribution ever," she reportedly told him.

Shivakumar however, refused to take credit for the victory of Ahmed Patel. He said he had discharged the responsibility entrusted to him. "Everyone knows how BJP tried its best to defeat Congress Rajya Sabha candidate in Gujarat. BJP's dream of defeating Patel was shattered finally," he said. He added that he had just followed party instruction in entertaining Gujarat MLAs here.

We have to understand congress and DKS are up against Mr Modi, Mr Shah. And they think differently, they act differently, and if congress is not flexible in its approach, they will become irrelevant.
This is right time to Congress to recognize that India has changed. "Old slogans don't work, old formulas don't work, old mantras don't work. India has changed, the Congress party has to change.
So act of DKS is 100% justified

    the dk.
even chanakya will be confused with today's politicians and their ways.!
and well it all ends well for congress , they have discovered a future cm of karnataka and loyalist to the core

Now he will be asked by BJP to keep low profile till election. When election is near he will be compelled to join BJP. If refused, he will face same fate of Lalu and his family. Every government machinery will be used against him till he surrenders. This is the recent trend of current central govt. which is very dangerous fro democracy.

There is nothing to take credit. With 57 MLA's in Gujarat Assembly,Congress should have won easily. They struggled so much that 2 invalidated votes made them to win.15 MLAS have rebelled against the party.Their strength is reduced to 43 in the assembly. As for poaching what Congress has done in 50 years of ruling,is paying price for it.Opposition ruled states were converted into Congress ruling with wholesale poaching.

There goes a saying that behind every successful man there is a woman. This is 100 percent true where in the case of Ahmed patel's victory it is definately Mr. Shiva kumar where credit goes to him.The Bjp used every dirty and ugly trick to run a conspiracy to win rajya sabha seat in gujarat. An attempt was to bribe legislators in gujarat when everything failed,a frustrated bjp govt raided on Shivakumar
