Davanagere, Aug 10: Three inter-district robbers were arrested by the district police. Vehicle and valuables worth Rs 68.66 lac were seized from their possession. Producer of 'Bellibetta' Kannada movie happens to be one of the arrested accused.

The arrested persons happen to be film producer and former vice president of Honnali taluk panchayat P S Huthesh, former employee of a private sector bank Gururaj, and state president of Duniya Viji Fans Club H S Doddesh.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday August 9, district superintendent of police, Dr Bhimashankar Guled, said that five persons had contacted Tabrez A Sheikh, who runs a security agency at Bengaluru, and told him that they had black money worth Rs 30 crore and a highly valuable diamond stone. They told Sheikh that they wanted to strike a deal to dispose these items.

Once Tabrez came with them, they took him to Kenchikoppa village in Honnali taluk and confined him inside the house of Huthesh there from July 29 to 31. They forcibly took away rs 2 lac cash found in the possession of Tabrez, snatched away his Benz car, and sent him by Bengaluru-bound bus, after threatening him of dire consequences if he tried to act against them. Tabrez presented himself at Nyamathi police station and complained about his abduction and robbery.

The superintendent of police stated that police have information that three persons from Mangaluru had also been similarly robbed by the gang earlier.
