Udupi, Aug 10: The state high court, on Wednesday August 9, dismissed a petition filed by Udupi District Private Bus Owners Association, alleging that KSRTC has committed contempt of court by violating earlier orders of the high court.

In the past, the association had approached the high court, alleging that KSRTC buses, which were recently introduced on city and mofussil routes, were not sticking to their time tables. They had succeeded in securing stay order against operation of 46 city buses of KSRTC and several government buses plying on rural routes.

The high court, which had issued temporary stay order in the past, had passed order to settle the issue through Regional Transport Authority. The association once again approached the high court, accusing the concerned of allowing operation of KSRTC buses by changing their timings in spite of the stay order being in force. The association had named chairperson of regional transport authority and deputy commissioner of the district, Priyanka Mary Francis, regional transport officer, Gurumurthy Kulkarni, and managing director of KSRTC, S R Umashankar.

The bench of the high court which took up the case, dismissed the petition.
