Bengaluru: CM to write to Centre to ease immigration checks for Haj pilgrims

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Aug 10: A delegation of Muslim religious leaders met Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, at his home office, 'Krishna', on Thursday August 10. After listening to their suggestions and grievances, he assured them that he will do whatever is possible from his end to sort out issues connected with customs and immigration clearance for Haj pilgrims.

Siddaramaiah said that he would be sending letters soon to union home minister as well as minister for external affairs in this regard, seeking their intervention towards making the procedures more friendly for the pilgrims.

Minister for urban development and Haj, R Roshan Baig, who was present, told media persons that Haj pilgrims are now being subjected to customs and immigration formalities at the airports. He recollected that till sometime back, these procedures were done at Haj centres. Baig said that Muslim religious leaders had sought the intervention of the chief minister to help pilgrims in this matter by requesting the centre to change rules to suit the conveniences of the pilgrims.

CM Sidhramayya is behaving as if he is the CM of only one particular commumity.
First of all, in a secular democratic country there should not be any subsidy or monetary help for religious duties like Haj.
Muslims are required to perform Haj only if they are financially capable of doing it. Not by taking money from others.

Yesterday through news channel got to know that, maximum % of mujarai fund collected from the temples are spent on non-Hindu religious centers. When media person was asking the reason with CM, the answer was “Ishwar Alla Tera Nam…..”. Archaks of so many temples are getting very minimum salary in which they can’t not run their family. The accommodation facility… no one can live. So many temples, do not have income to purchase minimum requirements for daily pooja....................................
Did the government taken any steps?..........no way to expect…………………………

Customs clearance and immigration process was done earlier at Haj bhavan or Haj Centers. It was all helpful for Haj pilgrims as well as other passengers at the airport.
There was no mad rush or delay for any other passengers.
Once this process was done at these centers, all the pilgrims were brought to airport by buses from Haj center and straight away asked them to board a flight after final security clearance before boarding. The pilgrims baggages were used to get security check at the Haj centers and once approved there was no way the pilgrims or any to touch those baggage as they would straight away carried to flight.
This way it was very helpful and convenient for both pilgrims as well non pilgrims passengers for not having any delay and also Airport officials to work smoothly.

I do not know why this process was stopped since last 2 years and who is behind this.... Hope its not an act of Anti Muslim hatred policy by Central Government in the guise of security just to trouble Muslim pilgrims.

You 1st understand what is Haj and ehram and then suggest your views. If every Haji stands in airport it will be more trouble for other passengers.

As "Ramesh Prabhu, Mangalore/Kuwait " mentioned... "He was never concerned about the Christians visiting Rome or Hindus visiting Kashi or Haridwar." . What a narrow minded and one sided leader for a state. Absolutely unfit to run a state like Karnataka. Let's all join together and ensure they are washed away in next election. We are not objecting this initiative. Welcome. but same initiative should be shown to all communities... or else it's very very dangerous.

    Dear Ramesh,

Hajj one of main part of 5 pillar of Islam. For Hajj pilgrims its mandatory them to visit our holy places in Saudi Arabia once in a life time.

Muslim Group Concern to the state and Central for the "customs and immigration clearance" this action duly taken only by Govt Authority to make Hajj pilgrims journey safe and secure.

No bodies Muslims are not bothering about Christians visiting Rome or Hindus visiting Kashi or Haridwar.

U live in Kuwait at-least respect the value of all religion faith as way the you received from Kuwait.

Talking about Kuwait, are there such subsidies offered to minorities who wish to perform pilgrimage? Last week the government had issues with Endowment funds being used for education for poor.

    Nawaz,

My comment was in response to your comment asking Ramesh to highlight the values of all religions in Kuwait. Now tell me, do they value all religions? Do they subsidize any pilgrimage for any minorities? What kind of rights do non Muslims have?

On the news article, I think there are well established customs and immigration procedures that need to be followed. Why exception to anyone? What kind of support did our government extend to Hindu pilgrims when they were stranded in Rishikesh in 2013?

    Aravind

If you asking about the Kuwait country do not compare Kuwait to india let me remind you India is the democracy country. Indian muslims asking their constitution rights from the Indian Govt. (not with Kuwait) Now do not mix up "subsidize a, minorities, etc.. along with Kuwait"

May be some Haj pilgrims. face some problem in Emigration clearance so that Muslims delegation give memorandum to CM for the authentic solution. so what is the big deal in it?

Rishikesh, Kashi, Haridwar, Amarnatha Yatra, these are all holy places for Hindu's am very much happy if All Govt give full pledge benefits to Hindu Pilgrims. No one can bother on that matter.

All Indians has constitutional rights to demand their rights.

    Nawaz Sir,

You brought Kuwait into this discussion as a role model of all religions enjoying. You subtly hinted at people enjoying in Muslim countries by using Kuwait example.

Dude, now you are trying to hide behind democracy. What has democracy and constitutional rights got to do with people standing in customs and immigration line like any other tax paying citizen.
Good luck with appeasement politics. That is exactly the reason why BJP is winning state after state.
