Mangaluru: Video of fight among students at college goes viral, parents worried

Mangaluru, Aug 10: A video of students fighting among themselves at a city college has gone viral and as per reports parents and many people have said it is a bad trend.

As per information available, the incident took place at Milagres College in city on Wednesday. The video shows a student being dragged from the college entrance and being beaten up by several students. The student tries to run, but the group chases him and manhandles him violently. The student at the receiving end manages to cross the road, but the group follows him and the fight goes on.

Some people said that the victim used abusive words against the father of another student and latter’s friends gathered and decided to teach a lesson the former.

Bunder police took the students to the police station and warned them. No case was registered.

    Dear Peddu, Mangalore - Please don't find fault with the college. The college doesn't teach them to fight. It is purely their family, culture, company and how they have been brought up is responsible for their behavior.

    This is a shameful situation which happened in the heart of the city and that too the video became viral in social media.The PTA should seriously discuss about this matter and also the teachers should provide awareness among students so that such incidents doesn't happen in the future.

    don't bring any parties in the school childrens matters .we used to fight in school or out side. but we never had a grudge .next day again we play together.receving guy may be captain next day match.leave them alone. some uneducated guy may be made viral.

    What you cook in the kitchen is brought to the dining table. Christian institutions are not to be blamed. They can only teach so much. They provide education to the students, and are not responsible for how they behave in society. That is taught at home and in the community. You can bring a horse to the water, but you cant make it drink the same.... The rotten apple does not fall far from the tree...

    Shocked to read that "No case was registered".
    I feel that police should have registered a suomoto case with available evidence. Students have no business brawling on the streets or anywhere for that matter. It could have led to fatalities or vehicular accidents too. Leniency is not the right approach in such matters.

    1st of all Strictest action is required.
    2nd parents should be taken to task, same cover & protect students from disciplinary actions ,last time when school officials rejected hall tickets of students who were in shortage of attendance.
    Parents shld bow their head in shame bcoz they are one who supporting, now obviously they shld face this reaction.
    If u don't want college to be strict , teach discipline or manners to become good civilian in future, then take ur children back n keep them in ur home.

    Dismissing the students from college will be the last option. College management committee should discuss this issue with the respective parents and student council members and take appropriate measures to avoid such incidents in future. Also undertaking may be taken from these students who are involved in this particular act, that it won't be repeated next time. Punishment may be given according to the rules and regulations laid by the institution.

    all these are usual unless they use weapons to kill (like happens mostly in foreign country)
    only social media takes it as a show to its publicity rather they can concentrate to stop some social evils strongly!!....Schools kids fights next days dance together, only teachers should have support them with good moral attitudes....otherwise small fights, man handle skill improves wrestling power and also kids learn the mistakes to repeat!!

    This sadly has become a trend in the most of reputed colleges as well these days. Colleges should take in a written letter during the admission that if the student is found indulging in activities like drug abuse, ragging, violent activities, activities against the law he/she shall be debarred right away. And then you will see better places for education. Most colleges these days are so hungry for admissions that after merit the only thing that plays a role in getting a seat is money and students who come with money background cone with these kinda behaviours cos they have been taught all their life that with money anything can be bought including the system. This must be a lesson to all the colleges out there, I really hope it is.

    Foremost, punish all of them for bringing a fight outside the institution because it brings disrepute to the school. Secondly, punish double the students who decided to punish the one who abused the Father.

    Now come the turn of the one who actually(if) abused the Head of the institution. Counsel him - everybody should be given a second chance - punishment at first offence makes children stubborn and creates a rebel out of him, not a disciple. Tell him, teachers are above even our own parents because they do what our parents can't do i.e. mould us for our future, sculpt out an image out of we who otherwise are a lump of clay. No amount of repayment compensates this deed. At-least let us repay by respecting them (teachers).
