Bengaluru, Aug 11: State energy minister, D K Shivakumar, dismissed reports appearing in the media about a large number of bank accounts belonging to him, his firms and associates having been frozen by income tax department. He stressed that none of his bank accounts has been frozen by income tax department so far.

Speaking to media representatives here on Thursday August 10, Shivakumar said that he and firms run by him maintain various accounts in different banks and none of these accounts have been blocked so far. At the same time, he said he was ignorant about freezing of accounts of other people if any.

Reports had said that during their three-day raid on properties belonging to the minister and his associates, income tax officials had unearthed unaccounted wealth running into about Rs 300 crore.

About the proposed meeting of BJP national president, Amit Shah, with Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Math, Shivakumar felt that the Math being an apolitical institution, anyone was free to visit the Math. He said he too will shortly be meeting the heads of Siddaganga and Suttur Maths and that there is no bar on anyone meeting any Swamiji.
