Mumbai, Aug 25: Former honorary secretary of Ganiga Samaja Mumbai, Hanehalli Shanker (65), passed away in a private hospital at Mira Road east on Wednesday night, August 23 after a brief illness.

He hailed from Barkur Hanehalli, Udupi and was a resident of Kings Palace apartment, Mira Road east. He was in the LIC business for a long time.

Shanker was an author and indulged actively in social work. He has left behind a daughter, two sons and a large number of friends and relatives.

Ganiga Samaja Mumbai president Kuthpadi Ramachandra M Ganiga, honorary president Jagannath M Ganiga, vice president Bhasker M Ganiga, honorary chief secretary Chandrashekar R Ganiga, honorary treasurer Jayanth Padmanabha Ganiga, Vidyodaya Samithi executive president Vijayendra Ganiga, women's wing president Tara N Bhatkal, youth wing president Ganesh R Kutpadi, former secretary B V Rao, Rajesh Kutpadi, Gopalakrishna Govinda Ganiga and several elite expressed their condolences.
