Udupi: 17-year-old Pradeesh set for Guinness record with one km long painting

Udupi, Nov 4: Pradeesh K, the 17-year-old painting talent, known for his rare talent in speed thread painting, is gearing up to break the Guinness Record in ‘Longest drawing by an individual’.

The talented teenager aims to draw a one kilometer long sketch on a drawing paper at Vivek Pre-University College at Kota here where he is pursuing his 2 PU. He will start working for the record from November 7 to 10 at the college ground. Pradeesh will paint on the concept of ‘Glorious India’ on November 7, ‘Polluted India’ on November 8, ‘Clean India’ on November 9 and ‘Developed India’ at November 10.

Son of Shyam and Prasanna Prasad, Pradeesh, will attempt to break the existing record of 660.222 mtr (2,166 ft 0.08 in) set by Parimalakanth Kumaravijayan in Tamil Nadu on October 12, 2016. The drawing was of a continuous theme of sea life with depictions of various marine animals.

In a period of four days, Pradeesh will spend eight hours every day to paint on 30 rolls of 35 mtr each. The final painting will be displayed on the college sports track which will be seen by Ramesh Rao, popular painting artist from Udupi, D V Hegde, assistant engineer executive, Udupi, Kodi Gopal Karvi, Guinness record holder in swimming and Karje Balakrishna Shetty, Notary, Brahmavar along with other art enthusiasts.

According the Pradeesh, he got inspired by the concept of ‘Swachh Bharath’ to aim for the record. “I would like to encourage and promote ‘Swachh Bharath’. The concept did not get implemented fully anywhere. So through my attempt, I would like to convey a message,” he said.

Pradeesh had achieved ‘The Fastest Thread Art Painting’ in 2016, consisting 59 thread arts in one hour at Udupi. He has also made his mark in Unique World Record, Assist World Record and India Book of Record.

He has bagged more than 500 prizes, including international, national and state level awards. He was honoured with esteemed award like 'Kalashri Award', 'Kala Chaithra', 'Aralu Mallige', 'Karnataka Prathibha Ratna and 'Chathra Puraskara'. He also bagged the ‘Best Orgnaiser Award’ at Mitsubishi Japan Asian Fest in 2008, national level award for his art in a competition conducted at Delhi Central Water board, 'Earth Day Award' in Bengaluru in 2009, and ‘Chakrapani School Award’ in Mangaluru (2008-09). He has also received gold medals in many competitions held at various places.

The management of his college, teachers, and parents are also supporting Pradeesh for this challenging task.
