Mangalore, Jun 28: "Manavika", an association of cultural and literal activities inaugurated in Pompei P U College, Aikala, near Kinnigoli here on Friday June 27.

Sumukananda Jalavalli, noted writer and publisher from Kinnigoli was the chief guest. Fr Jerome D'souza, principal of the college, Shridhar D S, head of the Manavika were present on the dais.

Sumukananda Jalavalli inaugurated Manavika for the year 2008-09 by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural speech he called the students to take active part in the literal and cultural activities of the college along with their studies. He advised the students to increase their knowledge not only through the school books but also reading the scholars' book which are now easily available in school or public libraries. He advised the students to have a own small library in their house. ‘Sirigandha’ a magazine written by the students of the P U College was released on this occasion. 

Shridhar D S explained the activities of Manavika. Sitaram Bhat introduced the guest. A colourful cultural programme was held after the stage programme.
