Mangaluru: Bible saints, Mother Mary fancy dress competition held at Kelarai Church

Mangaluru, Oct 5: A fancy dress competition featuring Biblical saints and Mother Mary was organised under the leadership of YCS Kelarai on Sunday, October 4 at the Kelarai Church Hall. Around 40 children participated in the competition, captivating everyone with their colourful and creative costumes depicting various saints and Mother Mary.

The competition was conducted under the guidance of Kelarai parish priest Fr Sylvester D’Costa, in collaboration with the Evangelisation Commission and the YCS Kelarai unit.

Fr Jovin Viswas Sequeira and Fr Stany Liston Pinto served as judges and announced the results.

Vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council Veena Pinto, secretary Harold Montero, superior of Fatima Convent Sr Irene Rodrigues and commission coordinator Lilly Chandran were present.

Fr Sylvester D’Costa delivered the introductory address on the significance of the Biblical fancy-dress competition and wished all the participants success. YCS animator Godwin Vaz welcomed the gathering, while YCS president Sohan Joshua presented bouquets to the dignitaries.

Rayola Rodrigues compered the programme, while Ashal Riona and Sion Monis coordinated the competition. All YCS members were present.

Princita D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks.

A special feature of the event was that all the participating children attended the Holy Eucharistic celebration dressed as the saints they had portrayed in the competition.
