Udupi, Nov 30: MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary on Wednesday, November 29 said that the state government and chief minister Siddaramaiah had failed to manage Belagavi Legislative Assembly.

Addressing media, he said, “The 60-day of Legislative Assembly was restricted to 40 days. Siddaramaiah did not answer any of the questions raised at the session convincingly. I raised 50 questions regarding various issues like delay in issuing RTC for 94C, 94CC, execution of housing project, failure of Lokayukta and on ACB investigation. Few questions were asked in the zero hour in assembly regarding reappointment of gram panchayat data entry operators based on merit and implementation of Mathru Poorna scheme.

“The state government ordered to merit based direct recruitment under Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat in gram panchayat office. Data entry operators are working for very less remuneration since ten years in 6077 gram panchayat across the state. If they appoint candidates based on merit, hundreds of operators will lose their jobs.

On Mathru Poorna scheme, Poojary said, “Only 1,800 pregnant women receive benefit out out of 15,000 pregnant women in Udupi district and only 1,600 pregnant women receive benefit out of 28,000 pregnant women in Dakshina Kannada district. The Women and Children Welfare department has failed to feed nutritional food to all poor pregnant women.

On housing project he said, “The government did not give any power to gram sabha in selection of beneficiaries. It is selecting with the recommendations of local MLAs. Opposition party members have demanded to give special authority to grama sabha in selecting beneficiaries.

“Taluk housing nodal officers have not been paid any salary since 16 months. Over 2,30,738 houses have been approved under Basava Vasathi housing project. Only 20,712 housing works have been completed, 80,526 housing construction are under process, 1,29,361 are yet to start its work in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

“The chief minister also proposed medical colleges for every district, but the promise is unfulfilled. Necessary action has to be taken by CM at the earliest.

“As many as 1,15,237 seats were available under Right to Education scheme in 2016-17, but only 97,991 students were admitted to school under RTE. Over 1,08,892 students have got seats under RTE in 2017-18 out of available 1,28,648 seats. Nearly 20,000 students were deprived seats.

“Approximately 1,679 illegal cattle transporting cases have been reported only from Mangaluru and Udupi in five years. Nearly 1,314 cases on stealing of cattle have been reported from Mangaluru and Udupi districts in five years of Congress government. But the culprits never got punished.

“The Union government sanctioned Rs 1,355 crore for electricity supply, but Karnataka government released Rs 97.34 crore in three years.

“BJP members also demanded the resignation of minister for mines and geology Vinay R Kulkarni for his alleged involvement in the murder of BJP leader Yogesh Gowda at the session of Legislative Assembly. They also pressurized for the resignation of minister K J George in the suicide case of DySP Ganapati,” he said.
