Moodbidri: Suspect in jewellery theft case arrested in Puthige

Moodbidri, Dec 8: Police have arrested a person who broke into a house at Kayarpundu, Puthige after removing the tiles on the roof and stole jewellery.

The arrested suspect Ashok (42), son of Ashwathpur Gundebettu resident Chengu Poojary runs an auto rikshaw at Sampige. Meanwhile, he used to supervise the house and garden work of Rathna in Kayarpundu. He had entered the house of Rathna by removing the tiles on the roof on November 25 when there was nobody in the house and stole jewellery worth about Rs two lac. He had later pledged the jewellery at a cooperative bank in Moodbidri.

SI Shanker Nayari of crime division who registered a case and conducted investigations on the basis of complaint received from Rathna, arrested the suspect on December 7 and recovered the ornaments. The court where the suspect was produced, has ordered fifteen days judicial custody of the suspect.
