Mangaluru, Jan 24: District Congress condemned the controversial statement of BJP MLA Sunil Kumar who in a public program at Kalladka had reportedly asked people to choose between Ram and Allah in the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections.

Addressing media Wednesday, January 24, former district women Congress president Mamatha Gatty said, "We condemn the statement of MLA Sunil Kumar who asked people to choose between Ram and Allah in the forthcoming elections. He is clearly trying to instigate violence and disturb communal harmony in the district. He is trying to create religious difference among people. Sunil Kumar is trying to sow the seed of hatred among people by such remarks.

“Following the direction of Amit Shah, BJP are trying to instigate violence in the district and passing such statements. BJP are not able to digest the development works done by Siddaramaiah led state government. People of Bantwal know Ramanath Rai well and will elect him in the forthcoming elections.

"We demand the deputy commissioner to detain Sunil Kumar and take stringent action against him,” she said.

BJP spokesperson AC Vinayraj, Vishwas Das and others were present.
