Mangaluru, May 10: On the last day of the campaigning for Karnataka elections, Mangaluru South candidate J R Lobo along with his supporters carried out a huge padayatra from Nehru Maidan to Urwa ground here on Thursday, May 10.
The padayatra that started from Nehru Maidan and passed through Hampankatta circle - PVS - Lalbagh - Ladyhill to Urwa ground.
Addressing the gathering, J R Lobo said, "Today is the last day for campaigning and we decided to conclude it by carrying out a padayatra from Nehru Maidan to Urwa ground. Congress has received massive support from the people. Looking at the support, we are confident that Congress will gain the upper hand in the elections."
District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai said, "We are conducting padayatra for J R Lobo to seeks votes and support from the people. We are confident that people will vote for J R Lobo for his overall development in Mangaluru and will make the district free from BJP."
District Congress president Harish Kumar, U B Venkatesh, Rajshekar Kotian, T K Sudhir and others were present.
Vedavyas Kamath
BJP candidate Vedavyas Kamath too held a road show flanked by scores of supporters.
The road show passed through the main streets of the city and culminated in front of Town Hall.
Addressing the crowd, Kamath urged the people to elect him as the next MLA for the betterment of the city and promised to work hard for Mangaluru's development.
The vibrant road show was accompanied by music bands and large cut-outs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
