Yadagiri, May 14: In a gory incident which happened in Agateertha village near Kambahavi in the district, Nandappa Doddamani (45), from the village was killed on the night of Saturday May 12. In a complaint filed in Kembhavi police station, wife of the deceased, Paramavva, has complained that her husband was done to death by 13 people from the village relating to financial matter.

Elder son of the murdered Nandappa, identified as Mallappa, had suffered serious injuries a few months back in an accident involving the tractor owned by an influential leader from this village. The owner of the tractor, instead of legally settling the matter, had opted for mediation with Nandappa with the involvement of village leaders. Nandappa was promised that the entire medical treatment expenses of his son would be footed by the tractor owner.

The incident had happened six months back. The tractor owner had failed to meet his promise of meeting hospital expenses of nine lac rupees relating to the said accident. It is said that Nandappa questioned Somanna Gowda and others from the village about breaking of the promise on Saturday.

A complaint against 13 persons including Somanna Gowda and woman from the village was filed in the police station. A number of pro-dalit organizations came together under the leadership of their leaders who kept the body of the murdered man in front of policy station and held protest, demanding stern action against the culprits.
