Bengaluru, May 14: BJP candidate from Channapatna C P Yogeshwar has alleged that energy minister D K Shivakumar and his brother D K Suresh gave JD(S) leader H M Revanna a 'supari' to end his political career.
At a press meet in Ramanagaram, he alleged, "Congress and JD(S) joined hands on May 10 and bribed voters with energy minister D K Shivakumar’s black money. Twenty leaders who were with me were brought over by the opposition," he alleged.
"JD(S) state chief H D Kumaraswamy who is contesting from Channapatna made use of this opportunity. Irrespective of the party, victory in this constituency will be by a tiny margin.
"If I lose, I will serve BJP as a loyal party worker. In case by-election is held, and party wishes, I will contest from whatever constituency the party gives," he said.
In Channapatna, Yogeshwar was pitted against HD Kumaraswamy from JD(S) and transport minister H M Revanna from Congress. In previous election, Yogeshwar had successfully contested from this seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket and defeated Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha Kumaraswamy. A few months back, he quit the SP and joined the BJP.
Rumours of the pact between DKS brothers and Kumaraswamy were making rounds and it is said that Kumaraswamy wants to avenge the defeat of his wife. Meanwhile, D K Shivakumar is supposedly holding grudge against Yogeshwar for quitting Congress and making allegations against him and his brother D K Suresh.
