Hyderabad: CPI describes Raj Bhavan as 'Centre of conspiracies by BJP'

Hyderabad, May 16 (PTI): Describing the Raj Bhavan as "the centre of conspiracies by the BJP," CPI general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy today expressed doubts as to whether the JD(S) would be allowed to form the government with the Congress's support in Karnataka.

It is quite natural that both these "secular" parties have decided to keep the BJP out of power, he said.

"It's good they have come together but we have doubts. Raj Bhavan as the 'centre of conspiracies' by the BJP. They may not allow them even though they have required numbers, may not be allowed to form the government," Reddy told PTI here.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala

He saw the Congress's move to support the JD(S) as "quite natural", saying had it not "accommodated" the JD(S), the BJP would have done so.

"I think they (the Congress) have done the wise thing by giving unconditional support," the veteran Communist leader said.

He said the Congress, which failed to come to power on its own steam, should not now "dream" of prime ministership and stake claim to lead an anti-BJP front; it should focus on bringing "secular" parties together to defeat the lead party of the NDA.

The Congress should learn lessons from the loss in Karnataka and see to it that "secular" parties come together to fight the BJP, he added.

The Congress and the JD(S) would have swept the polls in Karnataka had they struck a pre-poll alliance, he said, adding that instead, the Rahul Gandhi-led party, without learning any lessons from the past electoral reverses, went alone in the May 12 polls.

"Not only making good speeches, Rahul Gandhi should take courageous decisions also to bring unity among secular parties," the CPI leader said.

"He (Gandhi) has to prove his ability by making people understand that this (unity among secular parties) is the need of the hour. Brave statements alone will not give him the leadership (in the anti-BJP front)", Reddy added.

More than the BJP's strength, it is the "caste equations" that helped the BJP to emerge as the single largest party in Karnataka, he said, noting that in the previous elections B S Yeddyurappa was not in the BJP and had cut into its vote-share leading to its loss.

"Shamelessly they (BJP) have taken the help of Ballari mafia also," he said while referring to the mining scam-tainted Reddy brothers who were back in circulation in the BJP.

The CPI leader reiterated that the "secular" parties in the country should forge state-specific electoral understanding in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

But in some states such an understanding would not be possible.

For example, the Left cannot go together with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, and with the Congress in Kerala, he pointed out.

Does BJP remember that the principle of single largest party should be invited is demolished by three recent precedents set by them. In March 2017 in Goa, the Congress won 17 seats and the BJP 12. The BJP was invited by the governor on the basis of post-poll coalition with MGP and the GFP.
In Manipur, the Congress won 28 and the BJP 21. But the BJP was invited to form the government as they claimed numbers in coalition. So much so, one independent MLA was detained at Imphal airport through security agencies and handed over to the BJP. In Meghalaya, the Congress won 21 seats but the NPEP which had 19 seats was invited as it aligned the BJP, PDF and other parties. Where was the principle of single-largest party?
Why all of a sudden this this twist of logic? Hypocrisy at its peak level. BJP is part of the corrupt criminal syndicate. BJP has lost all moral credibility.

Without blinking for a second, the governor would have welcomed those who had the numbers to form the government as the governors did in manipur and goa. Is it not an established norm? Why BJP is keeping quiet now?

    Goa (March 2017)
    Assembly Strength -40
    Congress -17
BJP-12 (BJP was invited to form the Govt by Governor in a post poll coalition BJP+MGP+GEP

    Manipur (March 2017)
    Assembly Strength -60
    Congress-28
BJP-21 (BJP was invited to form the Govt by Governor in a post poll coalition) So much so, 1 Ind MLA was detained at Imphal Airport through security agencies and handed over to BJP

    Meghalaya (March 2018)
    Assembly Strength -60
    Congress -21
BJP (BJP was invited to form the Govt by Governor in a post poll coalition with NPEP +UDP+PDF+HSDPDP)

    Karnataka (MAY 2018)

Assembly strength -224 (222 election held)
    Congress +JDS 78+38 =116
    BJP-104

In spite of post poll coalition of Congress and JDS having enough number surpassing the half way mark was not invited to form the Government.

On the other hand BJPee was given a week's time to prove the strength in floor test in a weeks’ time. On the basis of single largest party.

Now this is called Murder of DEMOCRACY.

After Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya incidents and continuous preaching by Congress to BJP on "single largest party has to get the first priority", finally "slow brain BJP" understood Congress is right and acting accordingly.

But surprisingly Congress is unhappy now. God knows why? They should have been happy for BJP as they could teach some good manner to BJP.

The Governer will always approach the party with the highest number first. Yes in Goa or where ever, Pappu and his chelas were sleeping till the last minute , hence BJP played its cards well. You have to be proactive not reactive. I guess Pappu did no even know that such thing existed.
