Dubai May 17: Gulf Voice of Mangalore Season 6 preliminary UAE level was held on May 11 at Fortune Plaza Banquet Hall. Music lovers thronged the hall which was filled to capacity. The participants put up a very good show which made it difficult for the judges to decide on the winner. 21 female singers and 20 male singers competed in an exciting vocal battle. At the end of the competition the jury selected 6 singers from both categories to advance to the semi-finals to be held at the end of September in Dubai.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by Joseph Mathias of Merit Shipping Co. LLC, Mark Denis D’Souza of Fortuna Engineering LLC, Chairman of event James Mendonca and senior Mangalore Konkan Members, Paul D’Almeida, Lawrence D’Almeida, Ronald Sequeira and Coordinator Roshan D’Silva.
Famous vocalist Anitha D’Souza, ace musician Romerio Mascarenhas, singer, musician Patrick Pereira and poet, artiste, lyrist Ajit Peter D’Souza were judges for the preliminary round. They gave the singers useful tips and judged them without any bias but justifying their true talent.
Coordinator Roshan D’Silva conducted the prize distribution ceremony. Sound was provided by DJ Lancy. Chairman James Mendonca raised vote of thanks and distributed the trophies for the winners. Floyd Kiran D’Souza welcomed the gathering and compered the program. Members of Mangalore Konkans supported the chairman to present in a professional way.
