Mangaluru, May 18: After the assembly election process was completed in the state, diesel and petrol prices have been going up everyday, giving jitters to the average consumers who are worried over the phenomenon. There are rumours that prices of petroleum products might be hiked by three to four rupees per litres within a few days on account of spiralling global oil prices.
Petrol price went up by 17 paise per litre on Monday, 30 paise on Tuesday, and 30 paise on Wednesday. Shivananda Prabhu, a dealer of petroleum products in the city, said that prices usually go up by three to six paise per litre per day but increase of 30 paise everyday is a phenomenon which had not been witnessed in the last several months. The current price of petrol happens to be Rs 76.22 and that of diesel, Rs 67.64, which will be valid till 6 am on Saturday. The price in Udupi stands at Rs 76.11 and 67.51 respectively.
There was respite from price rise for the consumers between April 24 and May 15 on account of state election.
