Bengaluru, May 19: Ahead of floor test in the Karnataka assembly, the police department has beefed up security in and around the Vidhana Soudha as per Supreme Court directions here on May 19.
A high-level meeting was held by state police chief Neelamani N Raju with senior officers on Friday in the wake of floor test. The department discussed the security arrangements to be provided to the MLAs who will be arriving for the test at the Vidhana Soudha.
The police department has deployed over 2,000 personnel to provide adequate security on May 19. B K Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (West) who has been directed to supervise the arrangements said that five DCPs, 20 ACPs, 40 inspectors have been assigned for the duty.
The team scrutinized the CCTV cameras installed at the entry and exit points at the Vidhana Soudha. Media persons, MLAs and their assistants have been allowed to enter the Vidhana Soudha on Saturday.
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CPC within a one-kilometre radius of the Vidhana Soudha have been imposed by the City Police commissioner T Suneel Kumar from 6am to 12pm on Saturday. He has also restricted all kinds of processions against political parties.
