Bengaluru, May 21: Karnataka Congress MLA Shivaram Hebbar has called alleged BJP horse trading audio as fake, putting his own party in an embarrassing situation.
The Congress on the day of the floor test had made serious allegations against former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa's son B S Vijayendra of luring a Congress MLA's wife with Rs 15 crore to support the BJP during floor test. The Congress had alleged that Vanajakshi, wife of Yellapur Congress MLA Shivaram Herbbar had received a call from Vijayendra offering Rs 15 crore, a ministerial position and withdrawal of court cases. V S Ugrappa had released the audio at Vidhana Soudha.
However, the MLA, Shivaram Hebbar refuted the allegations and said that his wife had not received any call. In a Facebook post, Hebbar said that since he was busy in the assembly he could not clarify on the matter on the same day. In the post he called the leaked audio released by the Congress as fake.
In the Facebook post he further said that he condemns any such attempt for political gains and he will continue to work for his constituency.
On the day of the crucial floor test at the assembly, several audio tapes went viral including that of B S Yeddyurappa, Muralidhar Rao and Sriramulu luring Congress MLA B C Patil. The Congress leader too had given a statement that he indeed received a call from Yeddyurappa.
BJP leader Sadananda Gowda had attacked the Congress for trying to defame the BJP. "Mimicry audio's prepared just to build fake record 'terror. Comedian at the helm of affairs, all anticipating defeat on floor. Dirty tricks department has new boss (sic)," he tweeted.
Fake post, says Shivaram Hebbar
Interestingly, Hebbar on Monday May 21 claimed that the Facebook post in his name itself was fake.
