Hassan, May 21: JD(S)-Congress coalition’s Chief Ministerial designate H D Kumaraswamy, who visited his native Hassan district and visited several temples in Holenarasipur and other places on Monday before flying to Delhi to meet Congress President Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other opposition leaders, promised to provide a stable government and expressed confidence that the government will last the full five-year term.
"I know the task is tough, but I am confident I will be successful," he said during an interaction with the media in Holenarasipur on Monday morning.
Kumaraswamy and his wife Anita Kumaraswamy offered prayers in the Lakshmi Narasimha Temple in the Holenarasipur, his native taluk.
"By God's grace, I have got an opportunity to be Chief Minister of the state once again," he said.
The JD(S) State President and former Chief Minister said: "I am here to offer prayers in the temples of my native place."
Kumaraswamy’s elder brother and MLA of Holenarasipur H D Revanna accompanied him to the temple.
Later, he visited the Eshwara Temple at Haradanahalli, Ranganatha Swamy Temple at Mavinakere and Deveeramma Temple at Yaliyuru.
Kumaraswamy, however, parried questions on whether there will be two Deputy Chief Ministers from the Congress and also the composition of the ministry.
"We will finalise the details during my talks with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi," he said.
Kumaraswamy later met Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the latter's residence in Delhi.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Kumaraswamy said, "Rahul Gandhi cleared the modalities to be done, he has given permission to Karnataka General Secretary K C Venugopal to discuss all those matters and finalise everything. Local leaders and he will sit together tomorrow to finalise things.”
"I wanted to show my respect and regards to Gandhi family. That's why I came here. I requested their presence in oath taking ceremony. Both of them agreed to be present at the oath taking ceremony," Kumaraswamy said on his meeting with the Gandhis.
He is scheduled to take the oath on Wednesday afternoon in front of Vidhana Soudha and the swearing in ceremony will be attended by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Chief Ministers of several States including BSP leader Mayawati, CPM leader Sitaram Yechury and DMK leader M K Stalin.
