Bahrain, May 23: Konkani music lovers were recently treated to a memorable Konkani musical show titled ‘Musical Fiesta’ by team ‘O...La..Re..’ from Mangaluru through a joint association of Konkani Community of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Konkani Kutam Bahrain at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium in Sacred Heart Church, here.
The musical evening began with the clergy and nuns of Sacred Heart parish taking to the stage to deliver a one sentence message in Konkani. Priests and nuns of different nationalities and languages drew a loud applause from the audience as they beautifully delivered the message on the 'Musical Fiesta' in Konkani.
‘O..La..Re..' team kick-started the show with a prayer song 'Asathoma'. Melodious as well as fast numbers by well-known visiting singers Shilpa Cutinha, Meera Crasta, Adolf Jayathilak, Stephen Cutinha and Robin Sequeira well supported by local singers and dancers set the stage afire. In all, the audience was treated to 25 songs of different genres including Tum ie, Kenna Kenna, Rock n Roll, Moga Tuji Yaad Yeta, Puspustha, Mujein Kaaliz, Hi Raat, Gutur Gutur, Baila Naach, Aiyayya, Yore Pavsa, Raat Aichi and many popular numbers including several mash-ups. The song list included Neelya Gaganaar, Nannulo, Kaalzachi Udi, Tum Jiyethay from the newly realeased album 'La Vida' by Stephen and Shilpa Cutinha during the course of the evening. The parish priest, Fr Xavier D’Souza and spiritual director of the Konkani community, Fr Darel Fernandes surprised and delighted the appreciative audience with their song 'Ami Yazak Bhav'. Roshan D’Souza, Angelore, a household name in Konkani music world provided the music along with Sanjay Rodrigues, Sanjeeth Rodrigues who flew in from Mangaluru and local musicians Deorn D’Souza and Prinson Machado.
The audience was treated to a laughter fest by the popular comedian Nellu Permannur, supported by local comedians Stany D’Souza, Sujay Pinto and Pramila Martis which added a generous dose of humor with three comedy skits during the intervals keeping the crowd well entertained till the end.
During the event, Stephen and Shilpa Cutinha’s new album 'La Vida' by Sennon Productions was released by Fr Xavier D’Souza parish priest of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bahrain and Fr Darel Fernandes spiritual director of Konkani community of Sacred Heart Catholic Church Bahrain in the presence of Henry Castelino the main coordinator of the Konkani community and Henry D’Almeida convenor of Konkani Kutam, Ronald Fernandes and Steven D’Souza. Addressing the gathering, Fr Darel Fernandes thanked all the artistes and the Konkani community and Konkani Kutam for organizing this mega event and all the supporters who contributed toward making the event a success. He congratulated Stephen and Shilpa Cutinha on the release of their new album and asked the Konkani audience to patronize and support the Konkani artistes by purchasing their albums.
Local singers who participated in the show included Aeron Franco, Shanthi Noronha, Preetham Aranha, Renita Pinto, Christopher Lobo, Ronald Fernandes, Teena D’Souza, Sachitha Fernandes and members of the Konkani choir Sydney Correia, Richard Pais, Reema D’Mello, Sandra Castelino and Vanitha Rodrigues.
Little children and youngsters including Sweeta, Delisha, Rebecca, Sharlin, Sharon, Ruth Maria, Crystal, Clarissa, Feryl, Nishal, Reshel, Viona, Ziona, Lareena, Jennifer, Susan, Lanwil, Shawn, Sujal, Ayona, Brendon, Orville, Reya, Michelle, Clarina, Shreyal, Haren, Mark Henry and Astral Cutinha presented a dazzling dance display choreographed by Preetham Acharya, Namitha Salian, Renita Pinto, Clement Pinto and Eunice D’souza.
Mementos of appreciation were presented to all the visiting artistes and donors who supported the event were presented generous contributions. Steven D’Souza was the event coordinator, Al Sibinsa Trading provided sound and lighting, Reuben D’Souza provided photography and videography.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Henry Castelino, the main coordinator of the Konkani community. The event was beautifully compered by Shilpa Cutinha and ably supported by Santosh Danthi, Helen Menezes and Steven D’Souza. Hilary Tellis conducted the in-house raffle draw.
A large crowd of nearly thousand enjoyed the evening and applauded the show.
