Bengaluru, May 24 (Agencies): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday called up Karnataka's newly swron-in Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and assured him of having good relationship with him on the state's development issues, an official statement said.
"Modi called up Kumaraswamy and greeted him on becoming the chief minister and hoped to have good ties between the two," said the Chief Minister's office in a statement here.
Reciprocating Modi's gesture, Kumaraswamy expressed willingness to maintain good relationship with the Prime Minister on development issues pertaining to the southern state.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also congratulated Kumaraswamy and deputy CM Dr Parameshwara and wished them the best. "I congratulate Shri @hd_kumaraswamy Ji and @DrParameshwara Ji on taking oath as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka. My best wishes for their tenure ahead," he tweeted.
In return, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy thanks PM Narendra Modi for the wishes: "My heartfelt thanks to you PM @narendramodi ji for the wishes. I have full faith in our federal system and I am there with you on all development-oriented issues. I also seek your full cooperation in developing Karnataka into a model state."
