Bengaluru, Jun 25: "Opposition political parties, which are frustrated by the development and popularity of the BJP are getting united in order to oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power. But there is no need to worry. We have the support of people, God and our achievements with us," said, B S Yeddyurappa, leader of the opposition in the Karnataka assembly.
He was speaking after releasing the handbook 'Shuddha Nade Sookta Vikasa', detailing the achievements of the four years of rule of the NDA government led by BJP on Sunday, June 24 at the state BJP office in the city.
Yeddyurappa further said, "Modi government is working under the motto of 'Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas', as development or Vikas is the only mantra that can unite the people of India. BJP which ruled only six states when it came to power at the centre, is now ruling in 20 states. BJP workers will deliver this handout of the achievements of the Modi government to each and every household.
"The state executive meeting of BJP will take place on June 29 at Bengaluru. All MLAs, MPs and prominent leaders of the party will participate in this event. There will be a discussion on the election of the leader of the opposition in the legislative council," he added.
Commenting on minister D K Shivakumar's statement questioning why the I-T department was not raiding Yeddyurappa, the BJP state chief said, "Let minister D K Shivakumar make documents public if he has them. Their government is ruling the state. Let him conduct an inquiry through CID, Lokayukta and ACB. Instead of giving lame reasons to cover up his misdeeds let him make the documents public. I will welcome such a move."
On Cauvery issue, he said, "The previous government has not taken a proper stance with regard to the Cauvery issue. The present government needs to be alert. The formation of Cauvery Management Board is done as per the directives of the Supreme Court. We have failed in choosing the representative of the state government. BJP will be with the government with regard to the Cauvery issue.
"BJP will co-operate keeping in mind the welfare of the farmers of Karnataka. It is our duty not to politicize the issue and resolve it in a manner in which justice will be done to the farmers. An expert should have been nominated to the Cauvery Management Board from Karnataka. At least now the government has to wake up and take some action," he added.
