Mangaluru: Woman duped into giving ATM pin, loses cash

Mangaluru, Jun 30: In yet another incident of withdrawing money after obtaining ATM pin from gullible bank customer over phone, a woman here lost Rs 6,000 from her bank account.

A person phoned a woman at Muragoli, Padumarnad on Friday afternoon, June 29 introducing himself as the bank manager of Corporation Bank, Bengaluru. He said to the woman that her bank account is blocked and asked her to give the numbers behind the ATM card to set it right.

When she hesitated to give the number, the person warned that she will not be able to draw cash if she does not give the pin code. The woman thereafter gave the pin code. It is said that Rs 6,000 were withdrawn from her account within five minutes after that.

A complaint is reportedly lodged at Moodbidri police station.
