Udupi, Jul 5: "Only those who are in 'Yatidharma' have the right to offer pooja. As Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math has violated the monastery, he has lost the right to offer pooja to his throne idol. That is why his throne idol, which is at Krishna Math is not given to him," said, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.
At first, the Pejawar Swamiji, who is at Bengaluru, was reluctant at first to answer the questions put forward by the scribes. However, when he was questioned further, gave clarity on the issues of Puttige Shree and Shiroor Shree and said, "There is a huge difference in the issue pertaining to Puttige Shree and Shiroor Swamiji. The issue of Puttige Shree is only pertaining to his overseas travel. However, he is still in 'Yatidharma'. Shiroor Swamiji himself has admitted that he is not following 'Yatidharma'. Those who are not monks cannot worship the throne idol of the Math. So he has to take disciples and has to hand over the pooja of the throne idol to them. This is my stand on this matter."
Replying to the query on the issue of Shree Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Puttige Math, Pejawar Shree said, "Puttige Shree has not violated the 'Yatidharma'. The only accusation on him is that he has gone on overseas tour. Let both the Shrees take disciples.
"In addition, pontiffs of other seven Maths have decided that it is appropriate for Shiroor Swamiji to opt for retirement. He himself can choose his successor. Krishnapura Math, which is 'Dvandva Math' for Puttige Math should recruit the disciples for Puttige Math. Sode Math, which is 'Dvandva Math' for Shiroor Math should recruit disciples for Shiroor Math. This is the stand taken by pontiffs of all the seven Maths."
In the midst of all these developments, there was a rumour making rounds on Wednesday, July 4 that Shiroor Shree has registered a complaint with the police, though he was not available for any comments to the scribes. However, the police denied the news that was making rounds.
According to sources, recently when Shiroor Swamiji tried to register a complaint with the police, he was advised to approach the court directly as this is a civil matter.
