Mangaluru, July 6: In a notable breakthrough in the ongoing narcotics investigation under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Mangaluru City police have apprehended the sixth accused in connection with the supply of illegal substances, following the arrest of five individuals earlier this week.
The latest arrest was made on Sunday, July 6, in Mysuru, where Dhruva D Shetty, 22, son of Divakar Shetty and a resident of Sakaleshpura taluk in Hassan district, was taken into custody. He was subsequently produced before the jurisdictional court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

The case was registered on July 2 at the Mangaluru Central Crime police station under Crime No. 31/2025. The charges have been framed under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On the same day, five accused were arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
Continuing the investigation, police tracked down Dhruva D Shetty, who is alleged to have supplied the banned substances to the previously arrested individuals. During the operation, authorities also seized a mobile phone and a two-wheeler reportedly used in the commission of the crime.
Officials confirmed that the probe is ongoing, with efforts underway to trace and apprehend any remaining suspects involved in the case.
The operation was conducted under the leadership of officials and personnel of the Mangaluru Central Crime police station.
