I traveled on the NH66 route today to Udupi and back to Mangalore both in an express bus and both the times there was no sign of traffic diverted to the alternative route. In fact, the road was just as flooded as it gets every year after heavy rains since the past 4 years.
I agree some places were more inundated than before but it was nothing that should cripple a 4 lane highway to divert to a smaller interior road.

Did you fly over Padubidri near thenka yermal!?. water was flowing couple of feet on the road and both sides mud was washed away due to fast flowing water! It was absolutely dangerous for traffic if the road caves in!

    People,

Belman-Padubidri is a State highway, it can take NH 66 traffic, Belman to Katpadi via Shirva , I believe a major District road, which might not be able to take national highway traffic....

In the 11th Picture, where 'Mani' is going with his dad without shirt???....In Belman most of the Brahmin's were not wearing shirts during my childhood...even while driving Scooter's!!!....nice to watch...I am pleased to see these picture's after long time...

I too liked the snap of " Mani". Stiched clothes were not allowed those days. Incessant Rains have thrown out normal life out of gear. As soon as the rain stops, heat is unbearable. We are nowadays witnessing Summer and Rain only in these days. Spring and winter seasons have almost vanished in South India. We have to blame ourselves. We want Industrialisation only at the cost of forests and our own life. Whatever it rains all run to the ocean as the retention capacity of water in land has gone down due to concretisation of Roads. Trees used to suck those resources and give back to us in lean season. Trees are felled unscrupulously and remains unchecked. God alone must save us from all the extremes of the vagaries of Mother Nature.

You are right. The whole world is ignorant and does not seem to care. Even our political leaders are denying that climate change or global warming is happening. We are only living for today and the future of our planet is forgotten. In the Middle East in the barren deserts governments are making efforts to plant trees and are exploring new ways of irrigating barren deserts, but in India we are busy destroying our greenery and our natural resources. It is only greed greed and greed everywhere.

I myself was stranded at Padubidri. I was advised to divert to beach road to Kaup. It was good decision.
During this time I was just wondering ,' So much water is flowing to see an wasted while people suffer for drinking water in summer.
The planners need to do something about it urgently.
