Bhatkal: KSRTC bus-lorry collision at Kumta – 3 dead, 15 injured

Bhatkal, Jul 7: As the result of an accident that took place at Kumta on Saturday, July 7, three persons died.

Shashikala Harikanta (60) and Venkatesh Ganiga (45) and an unidentified person are the deceased.

15 persons suffered injuries in the accident.

All the deceased and injured were travelling in the KSRTC bus that collided with the lorry.

Injured have been taken to hospitals.

Must ban using high beam lights in night time.Its make you full blind.When vehicle is coming from opposite direction put low beam lights. RIP

In Indian roads there is no provision nor safe rule for Out of gauge equipment's transportation - unlike in other countries prior police permission with 2 police escorts provided (One at front and one at backside) and transport i allowed only midnight 24:00 HRS to 03:00 HRS and they need to park at a safe distance from Highways and continue next midnight.

Sad accident indeed resulting with so many deaths and hurts and hope the investigation will reveal the reason for this accident

I agree. That oversized equipment is a death trap! Thinking in the perspective of the KSRTC bus, even I wouldn't have been able to aviod it at night.
