Bengaluru, Jul 10: Urban development and housing minister, U T Khader, stated that Shiradi ghat stretch of national highway 75 which is closed for traffic for second phase of improvements will reopen for use before July 16.
Khader discussed the issue with PWD minister, H D Revanna, in Vidhana Soudha here on Monday in the presence of officials of transport and PWD departments. "Works undertaken at Shiradi Ghat are nearing completion. We have already sought convenient date for participation by union minister for highways, Nitin Gadkari, in the inaugural programme," he clarified.
He said that former union minister for highways, Oscar Fernandes, as well as MP and MLA from the area will take part in the inaugural. He added that Oscar Fernandes is being invited as he, as the then minister for highways, had released Rs 165 crore for Shiradi Ghat highway improvement.
Khader also stated that a meeting of legislators from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts to discuss repairs and development of roads damaged because of torrential downpour would be held here on Tuesday July 10. The meeting will be convened at Vidhana Soudha.
