CM announces Rs 10 lac compensation to victim’s family

Bengaluru, Jul 10: Chief Minister (CM) H D Kumaraswamy, on Tuesday July 10, announced ‘Grama Vastavya’, village stay programme by CM, in Malnad region following the death of a school girl in Shivamogga district on July 9.
During the Assembly session, BJP MLA Araga Jnanendra on Monday briefed about a death of a girl in a canal due to incessant rains at Dudlimane.
In his answer, CM announced Rs 10 lac to the kin of the girl and also said that he would stay in the village for few days to know the issues related to the region. "I have directed the Deputy Commissioner to construct protection wall to avoid any such incident in the future," CM said.
It may be recalled that Ashika (15), a class 9 student of government school in Dudlimane village near Thirthahalli, while crossing the canal on a footbridge along with her mother lost her balance, slipped and got washed away by the force of the water.
This tragic incident occurred on Monday, July 9. The body of the girl has not yet been traced due to the incessant rains.
