Bengaluru, Jul 12: The claim that innocent Hindu girls are being enticed through the means of 'Love Jihad' in coastal and other districts of Karnataka, and that they are trapped and used for terrorist activities later, gave rise to uproar in the legislative council of the state on Wednesday July 11.
BJP member of legislative council, Tejaswini Gowda, stated that innocent Hindu women and those living alone are being tangled in 'Love Jihad' through tactful means, after which they are forced to undergo religious conversion. She said that several such women from coastal districts have been raped and then sold in foreign countries. Tejaswini accused Popular Front of India, Campus Front of India and Karnataka Forum for Dignity of supporting such activities. She also claimed that terrorist organizations like Indian Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba and ISIS have been providing tacit support to these conspiracies. She urged the government to provide protection to innocent Hindu girls who are falling prey to such tactics.

Urban development minister, U T Khader, speaking on behalf of the home minister, said that no cases of the alleged Love Jihad under which women are forcibly converted from either Hinduism or other religions, raping them or pushing them into prostitution racket have been registered in any of the police stations in the state. He asked Tejaswini not to speak without proper evidence or proof. He urged her to provide details of any case in Karnataka in which such charges have been proved in the courts of law.
