Kundapur, Jul 12: In an incident that is reported from Bidkalkatte road under Hombadi Mandady village, Kota police intercepted a vehicle that was transporting cattle illegally and confiscated the same with ten cows.
Kota police, who were conducting a check on vehicles, noticed a white coloured pickup truck. The driver, who saw the police, escaped along with his accomplice leaving the vehicle on the road itself. The cattle and buffaloes were tied to one another in an inhuman manner with ropes to their neck and rear legs in the vehicle.
There were four calves, three cows and two buffaloes in the vehicle. Out of these, one cow and one buffalo were found to be in dead.
The value of the cattle that were found on the vehicle is estimated to be around Rs 23,000 and the cost of the two buffaloes is about Rs 12,000. The value of the Bolero pick up is estimated at Rs 5 lac.
It is learnt from the primary investigation that the pickup belonged to Mohammad Zabrood, a native of Honnavar and Hussain and others from Goliyangady were transporting cattle.
A case in this regard stands registered in Kota police station.
