Udupi Jul 15: “Rs 1,180 crore has been sanctioned for the drinking Water purpose in Udupi Municipality. Tender has been called for the drinking water supply in Kaup” said Urban Development and Housing Minister U T Khader on Saturday, July 14 in Udupi.
Addressing the press meet about the developmental works to be carried out in Udupi district under his department, Khader said “We have reached the target in rural areas with regard to housing. In urban areas we are planning to build G4 (Ground floor plus 4 storeys) buildings. We are ensuring to provide housing facility to all people as soon as possible,”
“In Udupi already 2 Indira Canteens are working and 2 more canteens will start functioning shortly. District Commissioner (DC) has the power to set the target sale for Indira Canteens. Houses will be built for the homeless in Nittur and Kodandoor at a cost of Rs 29 crore,” he added.
“Opposition parties have very little information about the recently concluded budget. So they are misguiding people. This is an addition to the budget announced by former CM Siddaramaiah. In Siddaramaiah’s budget our coastal districts had got many new projects. In the gap of 8 months, we have to work together to utilize the allocated budget amount. I will hold a meeting with all the MLAs of our region and discuss about this,” he informed.
Speaking about BJP’s stand with regard to fishing community problems, Khader said “Fishing community in Karnataka is getting better facility than the fishing community of Gujarat. If BJP is so concerned about them, why can’t they pressurize on central government to provide Kerosene. BJP has not provided much to the community during its tenure,”
Asked about Congress losing all the seats, except one, in coastal district, he said “We have done many developmental works during our tenure. There is no rule that people should vote based on the developmental works. Many have received help from me during their tough times, but they have canvassed against me in elections. Everyone is happy with the developmental works done by Siddaramaiah government”, he said.
Khader also urged the central government to waive off educational loan of unemployed youths. "BJP came to power by giving false assurances. It assured that all unemployed youths will be provided jobs. But in today's situation, job opportunities for qualified youths is very low. They are not getting proper jobs. Bank officials are harassing youths and their parents for not repaying educational loan instalments. If this attitude of bank official's continue, Youth Congress will take strong step against that. If BJP is really concerned about youths, let the central government waive off educational loan of our youths,” he said.
Udupi District Congress President Janardhan Thonse, Amrith Shenoy and others were present.
